A Walk To Remember

It’s been quite some time since I posted in my blog. It’s like I can’t even remember that I’m having a blog. Thus I scrolled down my own blog like a new blogger to refresh my memory about everything I have posted so far. As my introduction to my blog indicates that this is dedicated for one thing I love the most, MUSIC. But I’m not here to talk about music, not this time.

2015 is almost over and the new year is almost upon us. It’s quite common to reflect on the things we have done, achieve etc. It may be a pretty lame thing..? But it’s good to be thankful and be grateful for the positive things you have done and reflect on the lessons learnt. Okay, I’m not here to give life lesson either but to look back on how was the year 2015 went by.

As anyone and everyone would say “It’s a year filled with good and bad memories, happy and bad times, success and failure. I mean who can says it otherwise? That everything was just perfect. There’s two sides to every thing, you’ll never get only the plus side and not only the minus side, but a little bit of both. That’s called LIFE.

The first thing that comes to my mind when talking about awesome experiences of this year is the pilgrimage to Adam’s Peak. “Adam’s Peak” is a tall mountain in central Sri Lanka. It is well known as “Sri Pada”, that is “the sacred footprint”. The most striking this is that it is venerated by the Buddhists, the Hindus, the Christians and the Islamic since the Buddhists believe that it is the footprint of the Buddha, in Hindu tradition that of Shiva and in Islamic and Christian tradition that of Adam.

Some who have been there regard the journey to the top as an ordeal. They “complain” how their legs hurt like hell. Yes, I do not deny the fact that it is pretty hard. If I am not mistaken, the walk is about 8.5 km up to the mountain and another 8.5 km down the mountain. It is nothing like walking the stairs of a skyscraper when the elevator is broken. The steps are quite steep and in the season (May to December) you have to walk in a queue till you reach the top.

There were times that I was so close to give up. I literally talked to myself (in my mind) and convinced myself that I was going to somehow reach the top. Otherwise what’s the point in coming. I guess the whole thing is a matter of mental stability than that of physical.

Not to forget the unbearable cold. I reckon it was the first time I had to experience such a cold environment. Well, living almost twenty five years in a tropical country like Sri Lanka hasn’t given me much familiarity in this kind of cold atmosphere. I was well covered myself from head to toe, the only thing which was visible was my eyes, obviously. But that wasn’t quite enough. I could feel my nose freezing.

I reckon that no one actually regret when they wind up at the tip of the mountain. NOT AT ALL! We started our journey at about eight in the evening and when we reached the top it was about five o’clock of the next day morning. The perfect time to observe the sunrise after seeing the sacred footprint.

It is a mind-boggling experience. If I am not mistaken Adam’s Peak is the only place you could witness the sunrise in Sri Lanka. It was magical standing over the clouds/mist, I could not tell. I’m glad that we were at the top to see the sun emerge from behind the mountains. Perceiving that with the naked eye is stupendous.

See it for yourself: Dawn of a new day

(WordPress doesn’t allow videos to be uploaded straight to the site)

This may be one small incident that made the year 2015 a year to remember. Of course this isn’t the only thing either. Anyhow small incidents like this altogether give you either positive memories or lessons for the betterment of your life ahead.

Ready for ARTPOP?

It’s been a while since my last blog and now it’s time to blog about ARTPOP. We “all” gonna kick start a new moth from today on wards and all the Lady Gaga fans are getting ready for their Mother Monsters new album/app. Okay, enough with all that chatter and lets look at what  ARTPOP is all about.

It’s a knowing fact that ARTPOP is not just an album, but it’s sort of a “project”. And it involves an app in its release, which can be downloaded for free from any app store on your device (GooglePlay and itunes). It is gonna be released on the 11th of November. Gaga conformed that everyone could socialize through the app on this day.

We also know the first single is a song called Applause which will be released on the 19th of this month (August). DJ White Shadow is the co-producer and co-writer for this tune. As Rolling Stone reveled that it may be an upbeat/danceable tune, or may be not.

Applause is . . . fun! “I’ll tell you that it is very fun,” Gaga said earlier this year. “And that it’s full of happiness, because what I’m saying in the song essentially is that I live for the applause.” Adds DJ White Shadow: “It’s just a fun song. There’s no political commentary… I watch people’s toes and they tap.” (Source: Rolling Stone)

Lady Gaga didn’t even forget to tweet few lines of her to-be-released single, by arousing the curiosity of the little monsters;

Gaga will perform Applause at MTV’s Video Music Awards on August 25th. “I’m sending a doppelgänger,” Gaga told Women’s Wear Daily. “I’m going this year as a fried egg instead of hard-boiled.”

Going back to ARTPOP, Zedd–the German DJ-producer who worked on several ARTPOP tracks–had told Rolling Stone that Gaga isn’t necessarily aiming for a typical radio-friendly sound. “She does not have to please anyone, and she is who she is. Whatever is dope is dope. We do whatever we want, and we don’t have to make a song that’s three minutes and 30 seconds just to fit the radio.” Guessing there’ll be pretty long song songs that may run about 5-6 minutes or even more.

From the information that I got so far, ARTPOP is an electronic dance music album or may be it is not. “We didn’t try to make an EDM album – but, at the same time, we didn’t try not to make an EDM album,” Zedd revealed to RS. Yup, everyone is so sneaky about giving out info about the album. Guess we have to wait till the 19th Aug to find out what it really is. Or may be it will leak before we know it.

Daylight (Playing For Change)

Have you ever listen to a song till you start hating it?

tumblr_mgret0WLFG1r5gt9ro1_coverYou simply know that you love a song when you keep on pressing the ‘repeat’ button on your player… In my case, I’m addicted to Daylight by Maroon 5. Something about that song doesn’t allow me to let go. Even if I stop listening it, it starts ringing inside my head… That’s the reason why I’m posing this, I can’t help myself.

‘Daylight’ isn’t just a song that was released by Maroon 5, but it’s a project: Daylight Project. On September 18, 2012, the band announced on their website: “We need YOUR help for our next music video. We’re asking YOU to record and share ‘YOUR story’, and that recording may be handpicked to appear in the video for our third single, ‘Daylight’, directed by Jonas Akerlund.”

“As different as we all are, there are common themes that bring us together, inspire and show everyone what is important today. With this video, we’ll present the world today and beyond, creating more than just a music video” says Adam Levine. The music video was released on December 10, 2012. The accompanying music video sees fans express things they love and hate throughout the clip, after the band asked them to submit entries online.

Another video was released on Jan. 17, 2013 titled Daylight (Playing for Change). It’s simply the best! This video features musicians from all over the world. They have been filmed live in the streets of their town performing “Daylight”.

This is the story behind Maroon 5’s Daylight, the song that I can’t stop listening.. 🙂 Enjoy this video!

New Movie Release: jOBS

I found another ‘interesting’ (I wish) movie which is to be released this year. I’m pretty sure you guys have already heard about it. Anyways I did a little bit of digging about it…

jOBS is a upcoming movie—directed by Joshua Michael Stern—which is schedule to be released on April 19, 2013 in US. It’s about the well-known late American businessman, inventor and designer Steve Jobs from 1971 to 2011. IMDb is defined the movie as “the story of Steve Jobs’ ascension from college dropout into one of the most revered creative entrepreneurs of the 20th century”.

The main role is played by Ashton Kutcher (Not sure whether it’s a best choice, but I should admit, their resemblance is quite alike), with Josh Gad who plays the role of Apple Computer’s co-founder Steve Wozniak.

Steve Wozniak has criticized this released clip for being inaccurate in its portrayal of himself and Steve Jobs.

No matter how the movie turn out to be, it will receive both good and bad comments (I assume bad a lot)…

What do you think of Ashton Kutcher’s resemblance to Steve Jobs?

It’s the Christmas time, again. When it comes to Christmas songs, artists tend to come out with their own version of those famous Christmas songs. And these days, we could hear those ‘great’ as well as those ‘bad’ versions of Christmas songs.

Here are some of the versions of “Santa Clause Is Coming To Town”. It’s up to you to decide whether it’s a good or a bad version… 😉

Michael Bublé’s version. I think it’s one of those best versions!
